Kavin Nursing Home was started on 05.09.1979 by Dr. P. Ilango, M.S., an eminent surgeon and philanthropist. Dr. P. Ilango completed his M.B.B.S. from Madras Medical College and M.S. (General Surgery) from Stanley Medical College, Chennai. He was awarded the Gold Medal for his excellent knowledge and practical skills in General Surgery. Since its inception, Kavin Nursing Home has been serving the people of this region as a budget-friendly healthcare establishment. After the untimely demise of Dr. P. Ilango in 1984, the hospital was run by eminent doctors in this region such as Dr. K. V. Durairaj, Dr. K. R. Balakrishnan, Dr. R. Gopinath, and Dr. S. Kali Goundan. From 2002 to 2016, the premises functioned as the Erode branch of Kovai Medical Center & Hospital, Coimbatore. The hospital underwent major renovation between July 2016 and March 2017 and has since been functioning as Kavin Medical Center. The hospital now specializes in Plastic Surgery, Hand Surgery, Burns, Reconstructive Surgery, Microsurgery, and Diabetic Foot Care. Dr. G. I. Nambi, M.S., M.Ch., son of Dr. P. Ilango, is the current Medical Director and a specialist in Plastic, Burns, Hand, and Reconstructive Microvascular Surgery.
